Özet:

Nowadays, according to the importance of environment and having clean air, some studies have been done on air quality that showing us that human health is affected by a variety of gases and particles which are generated as a result of chemical reactions of pollutants that is emitted in to the atmosphere by vehicles. In the past, pollution and poor air quality was due to the activities in the industrial sectors and home heating systems, but today, pollution due to the traffic and vehicles are the main reason of air pollution. By regarding of this fact, air quality assessment and environmental assessment of the roads and streets are among the essential issues for transportation planning and urban and suburban planning. Environmental assessment will be an effective tool in environmental management and ensuring of sustainable development. The environmental assessment must be so that in environmental capacity model, it became presented as a most critical parameter in the road designing and transportation planning. According to the definition, environmental capacity is the capacity which is determined according to the least environmental condition around the road, not according to the maximum power of the road in passing of the motorized traffic. In fact, its value must be less than the basic capacity of the transportation. The aim of this study is expression of the necessity and importance of road environmental capacity in order of reduction and control of the air pollution. In this study, the necessity of determining of environmental capacity was investigated and its significance in terms of management and air pollution controlling and its negative effects on human driving was expressed. The results of this study showed that how determination of the capacity can be effective in reducing air pollution, management and control of it.
