Abstract:

2020

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between postpartum comfort and birth satisfaction levels according to the type of delivery. The research has been conducted in a maternity hospital in eastern Turkey between July-December, 2016. Women who had vaginal delivery (208) and caesarean delivery (209), have been included in the study. The data have been collected using "Introductory Information Form", "Postpartum Comfort Scale (PCS)", "Maternal Satisfaction Rating Scale at Normal Delivery (MSRSND)", "Maternal Satisfaction Rating Scale at Caesarean Delivery (MSRSCD)". The data have been evaluated in SPSS22 program. In this study, the average total score for the PCS of puerperant women or women who gave birth by vaginal delivery was found to be 3.58±0. 35, whereas the average total score for the PCS of women who gave birth by caesarean delivery was found to be 3.37±0.35. The average total score for the PCS of women who had vaginal delivery was found to be higher compared to those with caesarean delivery, and the difference was found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). The average total score for the MSRSND of puerperant women who gave birth by vaginal delivery was found to be 133.52±23.96, whereas the average total score for the MSRSCD of women who gave birth by caesarean delivery was found to be 130.73±23.64, and the difference between these two groups was not found to be statistically significant (p>0.05). The postpartum comfort of the puerperant women who delivered vaginally was found to be higher than those who gave birth by caesarean delivery. Satisfaction level was found to be low in both groups.
