Abstract:

Based on the view that the positive and negative experinces in the early years of teaching profession are the major determinants of the professional roadmap of teachers, it is fair to question how teachers evaluated their early years of practicing the profession. The aim of the study is to determine the experiences of the teachers in the first years of the teaching profession. In the study, a phenomenological design was used to reveal the meaning that teachers attributed to their experiences in the first years of their profession. Maximum variation sampling method, one of the purposive sampling methods preferred in qualitative research methods, was used. A working group was formed with teachers working in both private and public schools with the maximum diversity sampling method. The data of the study were collected by semi-structured interview technique. Content analysis and descriptive analysis methods were used in the analysis of the data. Teachers' views on what happened in the first years of the profession; the first day of the teaching profession, the problems experienced in the first year of the profession, teachers' professional satisfaction were examined. It has been concluded that the problems experienced by the teachers are the problems of lack of professional knowledge and skills, physical environmental problems.
