Abstract:

Healthcare professionals are exposed to many biological and chemical dangers and risks in their working environments. These risks include infectious microorganisms, occupational accidents caused by sharp and piercing tools, physical or verbal violence, stress caused by the working environment, extreme hot or cold working conditions, long-term working, noisy, not well lit and well ventilated working environments. As it is known, the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been affecting the whole world since 2019, poses a great risk especially for healthcare professionals. During this period, the protection of health professionals has gained more importance and priority. In Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) events that may cause mass injury and death, personal protective equipments (PPE) will provide physical protection appropriate to the type of agent constitutes the first barrier. The aim of this review is to define the risks that health care professionals may be exposed to, to inform them about the precautions that can be taken against these risks and the use of personal protective equipments
