Tobacco control concept includes an intervention process of three phases; prevention of starting tobacco use, promotion of quitting and prevention of second-hand smoking. Legislative work in Turkey addressing tobacco control was introduced with the first Law on Tobacco Control in 1996 and its scope was expanded in 2008. Particularly with the Law enacted in 2008, smoking was banned in all indoor places and a number of activities aiming at prevention of second-hand smoking were introduced. This study analyzes tobacco control related news and articles published in Turkish print media in 2007, 2008 and 2009 by focusing on their distribution in terms of newspapers and their points of view (pro-against) on tobacco control. Within this research, a total of four national newspapers, news and articles were examined in 1999. The campaign began in 2009 and continued in 2008 and increased the number of news in the papers. As the years most news in all species were found in writings of type (76.5%). Reports that approximately 90% of the current tobacco control policies in support of the frames are approving. This analysis displays the importance of public information and health communication activities as a significant part of tobacco control efforts
