Abstract:

The continued hip-hop flow and subculture since the 1970s is divided into a variety of species within itself. The Islamic hip-hop stream, born in a Muslim minority living in the United States, has become a multi-language music genre, spreading in the Muslim diaspora in Europe, especially since the 1990s. Through European Turkish speaking minorities, the species that spread in Turkey has also formed a majority of amateur producers. Of course, the repertoire performed in the Islamic hip-hop genre is quite wide and it is impossible to discuss it all in a single article. This article is an introductory study on the Turkish verbal Islamic hip-hop type that has no more source on. The article firstly discussed the approaches to music in Islam and Islam, which is an eclectic species that inspired this study but is not much found in the examples of it in Turkey. Then a historical framework was drawn in popular music to be able to prepare the ground for the reflections of Islamic influences and these influences in Turkey. Finally, the Turkish verbal Islamic hip-hop type was addressed by the song words of the sample chosen according to the corresponding message content.
