Abstract:

Traditional cultural readings, which are included from the past to the present, are formed as a result of the accumulation of thousands of years of knowledge, creating a rich field of research. As a research field, art is in an effort to present a different perspective on the concepts of culture, identity, affiliation and memory. In this sense, it is observed that traditional instruments are used for different purposes in different cultures in different periods of time. It is possible to read the geographical, cultural, economic, religious, political and social characteristics of the time they are in from their designs that are traditional. Traditional instruments, in current speeches, sometimes meet with technical experiences and sometimes with colors, patterns, motives and forms. The reinterpretation of this language, which has been updated without being lost, with different art dynamics, is important in terms of the preservation of the past in memory and the creation of cultural memory. In this context, the interpretation of the artists in the art practice is treated as a powerful tool in the artistic works.  This study is interpreted through the different art practices in which the existence of traditional art and production forms in the current art field is interpreted within the framework of current art dynamics. In this direction, the aim is to move the dynamism of reminder in the traditional context to the global dimension of how the originality of cultural heritage is included in the interdisciplinary designs present. Paul Klee, Miriam Schapiro, Joyce Kozlof, Faik Ahmed, Gülçin Aksoy, Perci Eviner, and Canan Dağdelen’s work emphasizes the relevance and modernity based on the tradition of the concepts of identity, culture, gender, affiliation and memory formed in the unity of the present and traditional.
