One-party elections in the Republican era began in 1927 and lasted until 1946. Until this date, elections were held in 1927, 1931, 1935, 1939, and 1943, in which the Republican People's party was the only party. In the political history of the Republic of Turkey, the 1943 elections appear with several different characteristics. The 1943 election was the last general election of the one-party era, although it was held in an atmosphere where the Second World War was effective. For this reason, intensive propaganda was carried out in the 1943 elections, when the Mebus election law, adopted on 14 December 1942, was applied and the list of parliamentary candidates was declared more than the number of Deputies. During this period, the candidates of the deputies also stated that they wanted to participate in the elections in order to serve the country in their applications for mebusluk, which they sent to the General Secretariat of the Republican People's party. All the information requested in the Mebusluk requests is explained in detail by the candidates. This study deals with the names of candidates who ran for the Canakkale parliamentary seat in the 1943 elections.
