Abstract:

The objective of this study is to develop a available mathematical judgment self-capacity scale that has been conducted validity and reliability studies for mathematical teachers candidates and to test the usefulness of the developed scale. This work has been carried out in two stages: development and implementation of scale. In the scale development phase of the study in which the scan model was used, 373, and in the application phase, 221, a total of 594 mathematical teachers were nominated. A four-dimensional structure, which describes the total variance of 52,502 per cent, was achieved as a result of the opening factor analysis for the MMO, which is 49 items in the draft form. The validity of the structure created with the verifying factor analysis carried out has been tested. According to this, a four-factor structure has been achieved, consisting of a total of 21 elements and consistently of the dimensions of Generalization/Soyutation/Modeling, Intellectual Implementation/Communication, Development and Creative Thinking. The reliability ratio of the developed scale is calculated as .883. In the application phase of the study, a public university’s primary mathematical teaching program has been studied with teachers candidates who are studying and the mathematical judgment self-sufficiency levels of these teachers candidates have been determined. It has also been studied in this stage whether the class level variable has a significant impact on the MMÖ and lower-dimensional points. According to the results of the application stage, the mathematical judgment of the teacher candidates has been determined that their self-sufficiency levels are below the scale average. According to the class level variable, the 1st and 3rd class teachers candidates and the 1st and 4th class teachers candidates have found that the mathematical judgment self-sufficiency beliefs differ significantly.
