Abstract:

Railway tracks are one of the most important superstructure elements that need maintenance planning for long-term and safe use. In order for the rails to have an optimum profile, to increase the driving comfort and to extend the rail life economically, it is necessary to re-profiling the rails at certain intervals. In this study, the applicability of the rotary grinding method with the mobile rail grinding machine in the re-profiling of the rails on the High Speed Train Lines was investigated in the Ankara-Eskişehir line. In the study, firstly, re-profiling strategies and methods are discussed. Before the study, the condition of the line was examined and preliminary measurements were taken. According to the tolerance and quality requirements determined as a result of the evaluation, a rotary grinding application was made and the final measurements were examined. In the evaluation made at the end of the study, it was seen that the method in question is applicable in High Speed Train Lines. It is thought that this study will contribute to the formation of re-profiling strategies in High Speed Train Lines, due to the lack of sufficient coverage in the literature.
