Abstract:

The human being is now living in a world where technological developments are rapidly married and transformed. In the last quarter of the century, this transformation, called ‘digitalism’, has provided opportunities in technological, economic and other fields, on the one hand, increasing inter-national interaction and on the other hand, liquidating, eliminating or destroying borders. In the world that becomes a quite global village, cultures are naturally interacting and many elements associated with culture, including language, can be mutated and corrupted. In this process, which works in favor of global hegemonic powers, it seems possible to say that the victory of change is oxidant, and the victim is undoubtedly Orientalist geography. But this necessity that surrounds the world, makes the races close and unites the cultures in different geographical areas, of course, has also revealed the need for people to understand each other in a cultural sense. As a result of this formation, which can also be defined as ‘Cultural Esperanto’, it seems possible to say that intercultural communication emerged as a special discipline. However, the limitation of empirical and theoretical studies shows that the subject field writing, which is still in the retirement period, is not at the expected level. With this fundamental philosophy, this study has undergone a brief assessment of the inter-cultural communication discipline in terms of history, methods, approaches and theories.
