Abstract:

Purpose: In the treatment of Pilonidal sinus, the comparison of the results with the flep repairs that are applied after a minimal surgical excision with the crystallized phenol applied after a large excision. Methods: University of Health Sciences Gaziosmanpaşa Taksim Education and Research Hospital reviewed the records of patients who had been operated in the general surgical clinic between 2008-2014 years; pilonidal sinus treatment was closed with the defect flep formed after extinction wide (Group A, No:100), minimal extinction crystallized phenol applied (Group B, No:100) demographic information, the duration, early and late complications, the duration of the recovery of the wound, the duration of the start of the work and the direction of the new. In Group A, 45 patients (45 percent) described a history of apse, 16 patients (16 percent) were cases of nickness. In Group B, 35 patients (35%) described a history of apse, with 18 patients (18%) registered null. The period between the beginning of symptoms and the application of patients is an average of 6 months and 7 months, the average follow-up period is 44 and 34 months. The hospitalization periods are shorter in group B (1,1 days) than in group A (3,7 days) (p<0,0001). The postoperative wound healing period was significantly shorter than the patient in group B (10, 1 day) in group A (18, 9 days) (p<0,0001). The start time was significantly shorter in group B (6, 4 days) than in group A (19, 2 days) (p<0,0001). The result: The application of minimal phenol after excision has been found to be more advantageous in terms of the healing times of the wound, hospitalization and time of return to work, early and late complications (insufficiency, poor aesthetics) according to the results of the post-excision flep procedures.
