Abstract This research aims to determine the effects of model based science teaching on students’ academic achievements, science process skills for the 7th grade science and technology course. In the study, quasi-experimental research method is used. The participants were 48 seventh grade students. Treatment was carried out in 4 weeks. During the study, experimental group received model based science teaching while control group received regular science teaching depending on the course book. Assessment tools, “Achievement Test”, “Science Process Skills Scale” were administrated as pre-test and post-test. SPSS 11.5 package program was utilized to analyze the data. It was found that; experimental group, achieved higher “Achievement Test” and “Scientific Process Skills Scale” test scores compared to control group. It was concluded that, model based science teaching, provided a positive contribution to the development of the students’ academic achievement, scientific process skills and can be applied successfully in the science and technology courses.
