Abstract:

Early childhood is critical years in terms of acquiring many skills and habits, as well as important in terms of gaining environmental awareness. There is a need for qualified pre-school education programs that will bring this awareness to children from an early age. For this, pre-school education programs should support environmental education in children. The quality and quantity of the gains in the program are determinative in the pre-school education program's support for environmental education. The affective characteristics of the gains and which values are included in the gains are important. For this reason, in this study, it was aimed to determine the values included in the environmental education-related acquisitions in the preschool education program. In this context, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was preferred in the research. Among the achievements of the preschool education program, those related to the environment were determined and the values included in them were determined. Acquisitions and indicators for environmental education examined in the program were classified according to their development areas. As a result, it was stated that the number of achievements determined was low and the values included in the gains were insufficient. In particular, responsibility as the values included in the program acquisitions; values of respect and love. The study was concluded by emphasizing the necessity of giving more importance to values in environmental education in order to raise children as environmentally sensitive individuals.
