Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the levels of violence tendencies of high school students and to identify the situation of violence tendencies according to school type, gender and television programs they follow. The study also aims to determine why students apply to violence, the consequences of violence and the incentives to violence and what can be done to reduce violence according to their perspectives. The work is designed as a karma method. It is preferred by the explanatory (explanatory) pattern of the karma method. In the quantum section of the study, 290 secondary school students who were taught in the Kilis province were included in the sample. In the qualification department, a total of 12 high school students who applied for violence were included in the work group. As a data collection tool, the Personal Information Form, the Violence Trend Scale and the semi-configured conversation form have been used. The study found that high-level levels of violence in secondary school students were achieved. According to the opinions of the participants, the circumstances that push high school students for violence have been studied under three topics, including the situation of the opposite party, individual circumstances and the friendly environment. The result is that high school students’ levels of violence tendance differ significantly depending on the kind of school they are educated, gender groups and television programs they follow. Given the results obtained, recommendations were presented to practitioners and researchers to reduce violence in high school students. Keywords: violence; tendance; secondary education; student.
