Abstract:

In Turkish, new words are obtained in different ways, such as extracting, combining, drawing add-ons, but rarely use as a production add-on, adding new meaning to the existing word, borrowing. One of these pathways is derivation, real or name brought to the roots and bodies with derivation attachments or construction attachments. According to the type of roots and bodies they add, the name from the name, the name from the real or the real name, through these additions varied from the real to the real, the new concepts in the language are corresponding. In the Turkish literature -GIN/-GUN is mentioned that the tool name, the name of action, the result of action, strengthening, multipliing and being are different functions. In this study, a sample of the words derived by the -GIn/-GUn attachment in the Scanning Dictionary was tried to be revealed. The features for the addition are questioned with the examples specified in the dictionary, the data arising are discussed by the tables. Abstract:

There are ways of new word formation such as derivation, compounding, semantic shift, borrowing. Rarely, there are the inflectional suffixes which used as derivational suffixes also for this aim. The derivation which is the main word formation way in Turkish is made by derivational suffixes. They vary as deriving nouns from nouns, deriving verbs from nouns, deriving nouns from verbs and deriving verbs from verbs, express new words. The suffix -GIn/-GUn in Turkish language is accepted as the suffix which is deriving nouns from verbs because it creates nouns and adjectives. According to Turkish grammars, this suffix denotes words in different functions such as means of an action, result of an action, and frequently occurrence of an action. This study aims to point out a sample of the words derived from the suffix -GIn/-GUn in Tarama Sözlüğü. The explanations put forward for the suffix were questioned with examples determined from Tarama Sözlüğü, and the resulting data were discussed by showing them with tables. As a result, ninety words derived from the suffix -GIn/-Gun identified. They were examined in terms of the number of syllables of verb stems, and whether they added transitive or intransitive verbs. Also, these words were investigated according to their word type and word group. In addition to the suffixes they take, the suffix -GIn/-GUn was detailed in terms of flatness and roundedness.
