Kronik bir hastalık olan Tip 1 Diyabet çocuğun yaşam tarzını etkilemekte, rutinlerinde değişikliklere neden olmaktadır. Kronik hastalığı olan çocukların ailesinde ruhsal olarak en çok etkilenenler; hasta çocuklar, anne-babaları ve sağlıklı kardeşleridir. Kronik hastalığın yol açtığı bu sonuçlarla, kardeşler arasındaki ilişki zarar görmektedir. Çocuk hemşiresinin diyabet tanılı çocuğun bakımının yanı sıra sağlıklı kardeşleri de ele alması, değerlendirmesi, yaşadıkları güçlükleri belirlemesi diyabet tanılı çocukların ve sağlıklı kardeşlerinin içinde bulundukları duruma uyum sağlayabilmeleri için çok önemlidir. Bu sonuç doğrultusunda, Tip 1 Diyabet tanılı çocuğun diyabet eğitimi sırasında, ebeveynleri ile birlikte sağlıklı kardeşlerine de eğitim verilmesi önerilmektedir. Bu derlemede, Tip 1 Diyabet tanılı kardeşi olan sağlıklı çocukların davranışları ve etkileyen faktörler özetlenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Type 1 Diabetes, a chronic disease, affects child’s life style and causes changes in his/her routines. In the family of the children who have a chronic disease, the ill children, their parents and healthy siblings are mentally the most affected ones. Relationship between siblings is damaged due to the results caused by chronic disease. In addition to the care of the child with diabetes, it is very important for the pediatric nurse to address, evaluate and identify the difficulties they experience with healthy siblings, so that children with diabetes and their healthy siblings can adapt to the situation they are in. In line with this result, it is recommended that during the diabetes education of the child with Type 1 Diabetes, education should be given to healthy siblings along with their parents. In this article, the behaviors of healthy children who have a sibling with Type 1 Diabetes and the factors affecting it were tried to be summarized.
