Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to determine the effects of active learning model applied in the 7th grade Turkish Language course on students' critical thinking tendencies. This study is an experimental study that investigates the effects of 7th grade Turkish lessons planned on active learning models on students' critical thinking dispositions The study group of the research consists of 59 students who were in the seventh grade during the academic year of 2016-2017 in Erzurum Province. Of these students, 29 students constituted the experimental group and 30 students constituted the control group. Individual interviews were conducted with each of the 29 students to in the experimental group with the help of the semi-structured interview form. The research process lasted for a total of 10 weeks, 2 hours per week. Content analysis and descriptive analysis method were used in the analysis of the interviews with teachers and students via semi-structured interview form. When individual interviews with students and teachers were analyzed, it was determined that students and practice teachers stated that Turkish lessons, which were used by using active learning model, had a positive effect on critical thinking tendencies in various aspects
