Vildan Aşır Savaşır 1903 yılında İstanbul’da doğmuştur. Hafız Aşır Efendinin oğludur. İlk, Orta ve Lise öğrenimini Galatasaray Lisesinde gören Savaşır, daha Lise öğrenciliği sırasında 6.25 m. uzun atlayarak Türkiye rekorunun sahibi olur 1923 ve Paris 1924 Olimpiadlarına katılır.Aynı yıl Liseyi bitirince, evvela sınıf arkadaşı Suat Hayri 1970 li yıllarda Başbakan olan Suat Hayri Ürgüplü ile birlikte Hukuk Öğrenimi için Fransa-Paris’e gider.Vücut yapısı, hevesi ve yetenekleri itibariyle Beden Eğitimine, bilhassa Atletizme çok meraklı ve dereceleri dikkat çekecek ölçüde başarılı da olan SAVAŞIR, hukuk öğreniminden vazgeçer. İsveç’e Beden Eğitimi öğretimine gitmeyi yeğler.
