Abstract Demographics studies are an axis of research in the population, environment and development relationships. Demographics components has an important dimension in the socioeconomic subsystem in the environmental research. Rural population as particular group is the “nearest” to primary resources, especially in countries with a traditional agricultural basis. This studies facilitates also the compression of the rural population's evolution in Cuba, constituting itself in a tool that allows in policy terms to understand better the effects that have the geographic conformation of a territory. This paper is an study of the rural population in quantitative terms but also, an approach to the demographics processes inside that population group. Other relevant result is the proposal of a Cuban’s level of rurality and its direct relationship with the population dynamics. To reach the objective, the study is focused from geographical and typological optics (municipality levels for all the country). This paper offers synthetic approaches to the high coincidence between the dynamic of the rural population and levels of rurality in Cuba, its spatial regularities and singularities facilitating the compression of the rural population's evolution in Cuba
