Bu çalışmada çocuğu okul öncesi eğitim alan ebeveynlerin okul öncesi eğitime yönelik görüşlerinin niteliksel olarak değerlendirilmesi ve bu değerlendirmeler neticesinde ebeveynlerin genel olarak okul öncesi eğitime bakış açılarının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Nitel bir araştırma olan bu çalışmada olgu bilim (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu, amaçsal örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen, Siirt ilinde ve ilçelerinde ikamet eden ve 0-6 yaş aralığında çocuğa sahip olan 26 ebeveynden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın veri toplama aracı olarak nitel araştırmalarda kullanılması uygun olan yarı yapılandırılmış ve açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan Ebeveyn Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Öncelikle görüşme formundaki sorular temel alınarak çerçeve bir tema oluşturulmuştur. Her bir soruya ait veriler detaylı incelenmiş ana başlıklar ve alt kategoriler oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, ebeveynlerin okul öncesi eğitimin tanımı konusunda çok detaylı fikir sahibi olmadıkları; çocuklarını okul öncesi eğitim kurumuna göndermeyi tercih ettikleri; okul öncesi eğitimin zorunlu olması gerektiğini düşündükleri ancak okul öncesinde eğitime başlama yaşı olarak 3 yaşı erken, 5 yaşı uygun buldukları; okul öncesi eğitim süreci hakkında çok genel bir bilgiye sahip oldukları; okul öncesi eğitimin önemli ve çocuğun gelişimine, eğitim ve öğretim hayatına katkı sağladığını düşündükleri; veli öğretmen iş birliğini önemsedikleri ancak nasıl iş birliği yapabileceklerine dair yeterli bilgi sahibi olmadıkları ve okul öncesi eğitime yönelik istek ve önerilerinin çocuklarının sosyalleşmesi ve eğitim ihtiyaçlarına yönelik olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
The present study aims to qualitatively evaluate the views of parents whose children receive preschool education on preschool education and determine the general perspectives of parents on preschool education as a result of this evaluation. The phenomenology design was used in this qualitative study. The study group consisted of 26 parents selected by the criterion sampling method, one of the purposive sampling methods, who resided in Siirt province and its districts and had children between the ages of 0-6. A Parent Interview Form consisting of semi-structured and open-ended questions suitable for use in qualitative research was used as the data collection tool in the study. The descriptive analysis method was employed in the analysis of the data acquired from the study. First, a framework theme was created based on the questions in the interview form. The data for each question were examined in detail, and main headings and sub-categories were created. According to the study findings, it was found that parents did not have a very detailed idea about the definition of preschool education; they preferred to send their children to preschool education institutions; they thought that preschool education should be compulsory, but they found the age of 3 years as early and the age of 5 years as appropriate to start preschool education; they had very general knowledge about the preschool education process; they thought that preschool education was important and contributed to the child's development, education and training life; they cared about parent-teacher cooperation, but they did not have sufficient knowledge about how they could cooperate, and their requests and suggestions for preschool education were oriented toward the socialization and educational needs of their children.
