Belâgat öğretiminin çok eski yüzyıllara dayanan tarihi geçmişi vardır. Türk edebiyatında bu ilme ilişkin Türkçe telif eserler, pek çok sahada dönüşümün olduğu Tanzimat döneminde yazılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu dönemde açılan Batılı tarzda yeni okullarda Arapça yerine Türkçe kitaplar okutulması kl â sik belâgat anlayışından uzaklaşılıp modern belâgat (retorik) anlayışında yazılan eserlerin ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi bu dönüşüm süreci, belâgat alanında da Batılı müellifler örnek alınarak başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada 19. yüzyıl Türk edebiyatında belâgat alanında Batılı kaynaklardan yararlanılarak yazılan eserlerden biri olan Münif Paşa’nın İlm-i Belâgat (La Rhétorique) adlı eseri tanıtılacaktır. Özellikle de eserin kl â sik belâgat anlayışından farklı yönleri vurgulanarak Türk edebiyatında belâgat anlayışının nasıl bir değişim ve dönüşüm yaşadığı, İlm-i Belâgat (La Rhétorique) adlı eser üzerinden ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır.
