Catalpa bignonioides Metanolik Çiçek Ekstraktının Biyolojik ve Kimyasal Aktivitesi

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity and fatty acid composition of the methanolic extract obtained from Catalpa bignonioides flowers. Antioxidant capacity DPPH radical lacking activity determination and antibacterial activities were investigated by using disk diffusion method. The oil composition of the methyl esterified extract was determined by gas chromatography. The extract was shown antimicrobial effect on Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and high amount of linoleic acid, tricosonoic acid and arachidonic acid were found in fat content. The antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract significantly decreases the DPPH radicals when compared to ascorbic acid. As a result, it was determined that the flowers of Catalpa bignonioides contain a large number of fatty acids and have a significant antioxidant activity.
