ABSTRACT In this study, species composition and seasonal variations of epilithic algae of Dicle River were investigated. Epipelic samples were collected between September 2008–August 2009. A total of 44 taxa belonging to Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta and Euglenophyta divisions have been identified. Diatoms (Bacillariophyta) were the most conspicuous in the benthic flora with respect to their frequency of occurence and numbers of individuals. Cymbella cistula, Diatoma vulgaris, and Fragilaria ulna,Nitzschia palea,Navicula cryptocephala were the most abundant. Diatoms showed their best growths in spring, summer and autumn Key Words: Dicle River, Epipelic, Diatoms, Diyarbakir, Turkey,
