Abstract:

Light and mid-intensive Class II and III dental/skeletal disorders are treated with dental camouflage or ortognatic surgery. The aim of our study is to evaluate the profile perception of the different groups in class II and III scellular maloclusion and post-ortogenic surgery in order to help in the choice of treatment. Methods and Requirements: Nemoceph (Nemotec, Version 6) on Class II women and men treated with Dental Camouflage, Class III women and men beginnings, post-treatment profile images and beginnings profiles. By converting post-orthogenic surgical simulation profiles into silhouettes, the surveys compared in two groups were applied to 30 orthodontists, 30 plastic surgeons and 30 non-professional individuals (MOBs). RELATED: While orthodontists, plastic surgeons and MOB chose almost the same profiles, the preference rates were different. While there is no difference between surgeons and orthodontists, the rate of choosing the orthodontic surgery by MOB is less than the professional. Although camouflage and ortogenic surgical simulation were more preferred than initially, the rate of ortogenic surgical choice is higher than camouflage treatment. The choices are in the following order: Orthognatic surgery, camouflage therapy, starting profile. Orthodontists and plastic surgeons have preferred their post-ortogenic surgical profiles to post-camuflag profiles. However, although the choice for MOB is in the same direction, the difference between it has not appeared in the same proportion. Therefore, the risks and benefits of the surgical option should be detailed to the patient and the treatment plan should be determined according to the patient's preference.
