Farklı şekillerde ve zamansız ortaya çıkan afetler, can ve mal kaybına sebep olmaktadır. Sık sık afetlere maruz kalan Türkiye’de en fazla can ve mal kaybına neden olan afet, depremdir. Afet durumunda insanların güvende kalabileceği ve hızla ulaşabileceği en önemli alanlar acil toplanma alanlarıdır. Bu alanların varlığı ve yeterliliği çok önemlidir. Burdur ilinin bulunduğu coğrafi konum itibariyle deprem riski yüksektir. Bu araştırmada Burdur kent merkezinde yer alan acil toplanma alanları alan büyüklüğü, etkili hizmet alanı ve kişi başına düşen toplam alan vb. mekansal standartlara göre incelenmiştir. Araştırma Burdur kent merkezinde yer alan acil toplanma alanlarının planlama esasları gözetilmeden belirlendiğini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Kent ölçeğinde acil toplanma alanları her ne kadar yeterli gözükse de mahalle ölçeğinde yetersiz kalmaktadır. Burdur kent merkezinde meydana gelebilecek olası bir depremin etkileri yıkıcı olacaktır. Mevcut acil toplanma alanlarının risk değerlendirmesi veya yeni acil toplanma alanlarının belirlenmesinde kapasite, erişim ve mekansal dağılım dikkate alınmalıdır.
Disasters that occur in different forms and untemporary causes life and property losses. The disaster that causes most deaths and property losses in Turkey, which is often exposed to disasters, is earthquake. The most important areas where people can stay safe and quickly reach in the event of disasters are emergency gathering areas. The availability and sufficiency of these areas is very important. The geographical location of Burdur is a high risk of earthquake. In this study, the area size of the emergency gathering areas located in the Burdur city center, the effective service area and the total area per person, etc. It is studied according to spatial standards. The research has found that the emergency gathering areas located in the Burdur city center are determined without monitoring the basis of planning. Although the emergency gathering areas in the city scale seem sufficient, they remain insufficient in the neighborhood scale. The effects of a possible earthquake that may occur in the city centre of Burdur will be devastating. The risk assessment of existing emergency gathering areas or the identification of new emergency gathering areas should take into account capacity, access and spatial distribution.

The most critical areas where people can stay healthy and reach quickly are the emergency assembly areas in case of disasters. The existence and adequacy of these areas are vital. Burdur is at high risk for having earthquakes due to its geographic location. In the study, emergency assembly areas in Burdur city were investigated based on spatial standards such as area size, effective service area and total area per capita. The study revealed that the emergency assembly areas in Burdur city were determined without considering the planning principles. The areas are sufficient at the city scale but insufficient at the neighborhood scale. The effects of a potential earthquake in Burdur city would be devastating. Risk assessment of the existing emergency assembly areas or the determination of new emergency assembly areas should be done by taking into account capacity, access, and spatial distribution.
