Abstract:

The aim of the article is to provide information about the appearance of youth unemployment in Turkey and to reveal the policies of the developed national employment strategy towards youth unemployment. In the work framework designed in the form of a literature scan, the young unemployment was first identified by the causes and consequences of it, the dimensions of young unemployment in Turkey reached by using the TÜIK data and focused on the possible causes of young unemployment in Turkey. In Turkey, the process of formation of a national employment strategy has been discussed and the measures related to youth unemployment strategy and the responsibilities of institutions and organizations in the implementation of these measures have been explained. The data show that young unemployment in Turkey, which has a human capital advantage in terms of youth population, has become a major problem. The National Employment Strategy, which is designed to solve structural problems in the labour market and bring solutions to the problem of unemployment, has also taken special measures for young people and aims to eliminate the barriers to the labour and employment participation. In this context, the main responsibility in the policies towards youth is the Turkish Business Institute, while it is possible to talk about the duties and contribution of other public institutions and organizations and civil society organizations.
