Hedef dilde herhangi bir öğretimin yapılabilmesini mümkün kılmak için gerekli olan yüksek sıklığa sahip sözcüklerin öğretimi yoluyla dilde ilerlemenin ve gelecek öğretimlerin zeminini oluşturmak, öğrenenlerin sözlü ve yazılı olarak hedef dili anlayabilmelerini mümkün hale getirerek onların kendilerini hedef dilde ifade edebilmelerini sağlamak, dil öğrenim sürecinde örtük biçimde gelişmekte olan kişisel söz varlığının genişlemesine katkıda bulunmak gibi amaçlarla gerçekleştirilen ve yabancı/ikinci dil öğretim sürecinin temel bileşenlerinden birisi olan kelime öğretimi sürecinde en etkili sonucu alabilmek için birçok uygulamaya başvurulmaktadır. Yabancı ve ikinci dil öğretimi sürecinde kelime öğretimi çerçevesinde yapılan bu uygulamalar sırasında kullanılan yöntem ile stratejileri öğretici ve öğrenici ekseninde iki kategori altında ele almak mümkündür. Sözü edilen yöntem ve stratejilerin bir kısmı doğrudan kelime öğretimine/öğrenimine, bir kısmı sözcüklerin anlamlarının açıklanmasına, bir kısmı ise öğretilen/öğrenilen kelimelerin pekiştirilmesine yönelik olarak kullanılır. Bu anlamda yabancı ve ikinci dilde kelime öğretimi kapsamında yer verilen ve öğretim sürecinde doğrudan pratiğe dönüştürülebilir bütün uygulamalar, yöntem kavramının çatısı altına alınarak açıklama, öğretim ve pekiştirme biçiminde üç ana başlık altında toplanabilir. Bu çalışmada, yabancı/ikinci dilde sözcük öğretimi için yaygın biçimde işe koşulan ilgili kelime öğretim yöntemlerinin alan yazından yararlanılarak tek bir çalışma içerisinde toplu bir biçimde sunulması amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada 11 açıklama, 14 öğretim ve 15 pekiştirme olmak üzere toplam 45 ayrı kelime öğretim yöntemine yer verilmiştir.
Through the teaching of the high frequency words necessary to enable any teaching in the target language, the groundwork of language progress and future teachings is created, the students are able to understand the target language verbally and in writing, and they are able to express themselves in the target language, contribute to the expansion of the personal vocabulary that is developing in the language learning process, and to get the most effective result in the vocabulary teaching process, which is one of the core components of the foreign/second language teaching process. With the method used during these practices in the framework of word teaching in the foreign and second language teaching process, it is possible to deal with the strategies under two categories in the teaching and student axis. Some of the methods and strategies mentioned are used directly to the teaching/learning of words, some to the explanation of the meanings of words, and some to the consolidation of the words taught/learned. In this sense, all practices included in the framework of word teaching in foreign and second languages and can be directly converted into practice in the teaching process, under the roof of the method concept, can be gathered under three main titles in the form of explanation, teaching and consolidation. In this study, the aim of the relevant word teaching methods used widely for foreign/second language vocabulary teaching is to be presented collectively within a single study, using the field writing. According to this, the study included a total of 45 separate word teaching methods, including 11 descriptions, 14 teachings and 15 reinforcements.
