Sosyolojik bir gerçek olan hapishanelerin ne derece akademik ilgi gördüğünü sorgulayan bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de hapishane konusunda yazılmış olan lisansüstü tezlerin ve makalelerin bibliyometrik analiz yöntemiyle incelenerek genel eğilimlerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tez ve makale başlıklarının içerisinde “hapishane”, “cezaevi” ve “ceza infaz kurumu” kelimelerinin bulunduğu çalışmaların analizinin yapıldığı bu çalışmada Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu (YÖK) Ulusal Tez Merkezi’nden ulaşılabilen 184 lisansüstü tez; Dergi Park veri tabanından ulaşılabilen 64 makale incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın yürütüldüğü 184 lisansüstü tez, yapıldıkları yıla, üniversiteye, enstitüye, anabilim dalına, yazıldığı dile, çalışma alanlarına, araştırma yöntemi ve veri toplama tekniğine gibi çeşitli kategorilere göre incelenmiştir. 64 makale ise yine yazıldıkları dile, yıla, yayınlandıkları dergilerin alanına, yazar sayısına ve unvanına, araştırma yöntemi ve veri toplama tekniği gibi çeşitli kategorilere göre incelenmiştir. İnceleme neticesinde tezlerin genellikle Türkçe dilinde, yüksek lisans seviyesinde, sosyal bilimler alanında yer alan sosyoloji, tarih, psikoloji, anabilim dallarında çalışıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Mahkûm psikolojisi, hapishane tarihi, hapishane sosyolojisi ise en çok çalışılan konular olarak belirlenmiştir. Makalelerin ise yine Türkçe dilinde, sosyal bilimler alanındaki dergilerde, hapishane tarihi ve hapishane edebiyatı konularında nitel yöntemlerden yararlanarak yazıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, çalışmada iletişim fakültesi çatısı altında yazılan tezler ve iletişim temalı akademik dergilerde yayınlanan makaleler ayrıca incelenmiştir.
This study questions the academic interest to prisons that a sociological fact and is aimed to determine the general tendencies of prison subjected postgraduate theses’ and articles’ written in Turkey by using the bibliometric analysis method. In this study, the bibliometric analysis of the studies in which the words “prison”, “jail” and “penal institution” are included in the thesis and article titles, 184 postgraduate theses that can be accessed from the Higher Education Institution (YÖK) National Thesis Center; 64 articles that can be accessed from the Dergi Park database were examined. 184 graduate theses were examined according to various categories such as the year, the university, the institute, the department, the language, the research method, the data collection technique and the fields of study. 64 articles were also examined according to various categories such as the language they were written, the year they were published, the field of the journals they were published in, the number and title of the authors, the research method used and the data collection technique. As a result of the examination, it has been determined that theses are generally studied in Turkish, at graduate level, and in the field of social sciences such as sociology, history, psychology. Prisoner psychology, prison history, and prison sociology were determined as the most studied subjects. It was determined that the articles were written in Turkish, in social sciences journals, on prison history and prison literature, using qualitative methods. Besides, in the study, theses written under the roof of the faculty of communication and articles published in academic journals with the theme of communication were also examined.
