Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Yaşlı Kavramına İlişkin Metafor Algıları

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı; üniversite öğrencilerinin “yaşlı” kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları zihinsel imgelerini metafor tekniği kullanarak tespit etmektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomonolojik (olgu bilim) desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim döneminde Kırıkkale Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Beslenme ve Diyetetik, Çocuk Gelişimi, Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon, Hemşirelik, Sağlık Yönetimi ve Sosyal Hizmet Bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 255 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin “yaşlı” kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforları ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla “Yaşlı…… gibidir, çünkü…” ibaresini tamamlamaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde “içerik analizi” tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır Verilerin analizi sonucunda öğrenciler “yaşlı” kavramına ilişkin 86 farklı metafor üretmişlerdir. Öğrenciler tarafından en sık tekrarlanan metaforlar “çocuk”, “ağaç”, “bebek”, “çiçek”, “kitap”, “çınar” ve “ansiklopedi” olarak belirlenmiştir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to identify the mental images of college students on the concept of “elderly” through metaphors. The phenomenological pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The study group comprised 255 students attending Kırıkkale University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Departments of Sciences Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Health Management and Social Work Department in the 2022-2023 academic year. The participants were requested to complete the sentence “An elderly is like … because …,” in order to reveal their metaphors on the concept of “elderly”. The "content analysis" technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. As a result of the analysis of the data, the students produced 86 different metaphors for the concept of "elderly". The most frequently repeated metaphors by the students were determined as "child", "tree", "baby", "flower", "book", "sycamore" and "encyclopedia".
