Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine relationship between housewives' physical activity levels and their quality of life. Housewives between the ages of 18-65, not working in a job, not pregnant, included in study. A questionnaire consisting of 54 items applied to housewives who will participate in research in face-to-face. According to International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-Short Form); 72 housewives (24%) with <600 MET min/week (FAlow), 127 housewives (42.3%) with 600-3000 MET min/week (FAmoderate) and 101 (33.7%) housewives who were >3000 MET min/week (FAhigh) were included in study. When descriptive features between groups compared, it was observed that body mass index of FAmoderate was lower compared to other two groups (p=0.005) and alcohol consumption rate of FAhigh was lower compared to FAlow (p=0.009). When difference analysis of Short Form-36 (SF-36) subheadings performed between groups, it observed that physical function subheading score of SF-36 of FAlow was lower than other two groups (p=0.005). As result of correlation analysis, it determined that SF-36 physical function sub-score showed a negative linear relationship with age and BMI, and a positive linear relationship with IPAQ-Short Form MET/week value (p˂0,05). It determined that SF-36 physical role difficulty, pain and general health perception sub-scores showed a negative linear relationship with age (p˂0,05). It was found that SF-36 emotional role difficulty sub-score showed a negative linear relationship with BMI (p˂0,05). It determined that SF-36 social functionality sub-score showed a positive linear relationship with IPAQ-Short Form MET/week value (p˂0,05). Regular exercise creates a relationship with quality of life of housewives in different sub-titles.
