The staff conducting the independence struggle against the occupations of Turkey that began after the First World War and the Sevres Treaty imposed for peace, often emphasized that it was an anti-imperialist movement during the Liberation War. In the Turkish thought, first in the 1930s, the Kadro magazine presented the theses on the nature of the Liberation War. The discourse of the nature of the war was repeated in the 1960s. In those years, the influence of the ascension of the left thought in the world and in Turkey has also been the subject of the examination of the issue of imperialism. Especially in the first half of the 1960s, the thinkers in the Kemalist line, located around the Yön magazine, argued that the Liberation War was a struggle against the Western imperialist powers, while names like Kemal Tahir and Idris Küçükömer from the left opposed this view. In this study, it was first attempted to make a conceptual explanation in the historical perspective of imperialism. The objective of the dissertations and objections on the anti-imperialist nature of the war, starting from the years of the Liberation War, was to be examined through the views of thinkers such as Niyazi Berkes, Doğan Avcıoğlu, Kemal Tahir and Idris Küçükömer, who discussed this discussion in the 1960s.
