Abstract:

Research Paper The ceramic industry is one of the most important part of the processing industry in Turkey. In the last 15 years the export of ceramic products has grown more than 2 times. The total volume of revenues of the ceramic industry in Turkey reached a value of one billion USD in 2018 it was 325 million USD in 2001 . Today, Turkey is one of the world’s most important ceramic exporters. The main objective of this study is to determine the competitiveness of Turkey’s ceramic industry against some selected countries China, Germany, Italy, Spain and USA during the period 2001-2018. Data has been taken from International Trade Centre. In this study Michaely index, Revealed Comparative Advantages RCA index and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantages RSCA index are used. According to the research, Turkey has the competitiveness in the ceramic industry. But the results indicate that the value of RCA and RSCA has been dropped during the period. So this means that Turkey’s competitiveness in ceramic industry is decreasing. To improve the international competitiveness in ceramic trade, Turkey should pay attention to the quality and design in ceramic products production
