Bu araştırmanın amacı, eleştirel okuma temelli sosyobilimsel etkinliklerle yapılan uygulamaların fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilgi okuryazarlığına, eleştirel düşünme eğilimine ve eleştirel okuma öz-yeterlik algılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada tek grup ön test – son test deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde öğrenim gören fen bilgisi öğretmen adayları, örneklemini ise Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde bulunan bir üniversitenin dördüncü sınıf 26 fen bilgisi öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın uygulama süreci “Özel Öğretim Yöntemleri II” dersi kapsamında haftada üç ders saati olmak üzere toplam altı haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilgi okuryazarlığı “Bilgi Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği”, eleştirel düşünme eğilimleri “Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği” ve eleştirel okuma öz-yeterlik algıları “Eleştirel Okuma Öz-yeterlik Algı Ölçeği” kullanılarak ölçülmüştür. Çalışmanın verileri SPSS 21 kullanılarak bağımlı gruplar için t-testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre eleştirel okuma temelli sosyobilimsel etkinliklerle yapılan uygulamaların, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilgi okuryazarlığını, eleştirel düşünme eğilimini ve eleştirel okuma öz-yeterlik algılarında anlamlı bir artış olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda araştırma sonuçlarına göre, eleştirel okuma uygulamaları öğretmen adaylarının bilgi okuryazarlığı ve eleştirel düşünme gibi üst düzey becerilerini geliştirebilmeleri için lisans derslerinde kullanılabilir. Farklı ders içerikleri için bilimsel metinleri içeren eleştirel okuma etkinlikleri geliştirilebilir.
The aim of this research is to examine the effects of practices with socioscientific activities based on critical reading on pre-service science teachers' information literacy, critical thinking disposition and critical reading self-efficacy perceptions. A single-group pretest-posttest experimental design was used in the study. The universe of the research consists of science teacher candidates studying in the Western Black Sea Region, and the sample is 26 fourth-year science teacher candidates from a university. The implementation process of the study was carried out over a total of six weeks, three hours per week, within the scope of the "Special Teaching Methods II" course. Information literacy of pre-service science teachers was measured using the "Information Literacy Scale", their critical thinking dispositions were measured using the "Critical Thinking Disposition Scale" and their critical reading self-efficacy perceptions were measured using the "Critical Reading Self-Efficacy Perception Scale". The data of the study were analyzed by t-test for dependent groups using SPSS 21. According to the results obtained from the study; It has been determined that the applications made with critical reading-based socioscientific activities have a significant increase in the information literacy, critical thinking disposition, and critical reading self-efficacy perceptions of the science teacher candidates.
