Abstract:

In this study, the Ceramics of the Eastern Sigillata Group B, which were taken into account as a result of the excavations carried out in the Lower Hamam Palaestra, one of the important structures of the ancient city of Metropolis (Han Destruction). As a result of the assessment of the ceramics found in the structure, the most intense group among the Eastern Sigillates was found to be 127 examples of the Eastern Sigillata group B ceramics. The ceramics in this group are divided into two subgroups, DSB 1 and DSB 2, based on J. Hayes' typology. Such a rich buluntu group made it possible to form a wide form repertoire of 17 forms. This wide variety of forms is also very important in the sense of showing the existence of variations and imitates of some forms. From these 17 forms, Mtr Low Hamam Palaestra Form 1 is addressed in DSB Group 1, while Mtr Low Hamam Palaestra Form 9-17 is assessed in DSB Group 2. Among the examples of the Eastern Sigillata group B taken in the lower Hamam Palaestra, the earliest examples are dated in the first half of the MS I century. The most recent example of this group is MS III. It belongs to the century. The most popular history in this group is in the first century. The results of these data show that Metropolis has strong trade relations over the date with cities such as Tralleis and Ephesos, which are considered to be among the production sites of this group.
