Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate obesity and hypertension in students of a primary school in Sakarya. Material and Methods: This descriptive study was performed with 402 students in a primary school in Alifuatpasa disctrict in Sakarya. Obese students was determined by WHO criteria and hypertension was determined by American Academy of Pediatrics criteria. The data were evaluated by descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. Results: %13.9 of the students were obese and %14.2 of them were overweight. %7.5 of the students had malign hypertension, %12.2 of them had hypertension, %21.9 of them had prehypertension. Eating before sleeping was found to be an associated factor with obesity and having obesity and hypertension in first degree parents and obesity were found as associated factors with hypertension by logistic regression analysis.Conclusion: Evaluation of obesity and hypertension is necessary in terms of school health. For this reason these two subjects must take place in inspections of school aged children and also educations about obesity and hypertension are given to both students and their families.
