Bir konuyu farklı yönlerden ele alabilme, objektif olma, akıl yürütme, argümanların geçerliliğine karar verme, problem çözme, iddiaları kanıtlarla destekleme gibi süreçlerden oluşan eleştirel düşünme becerisi çağımız insanının en çok ihtiyaç duyduğu becerilerden biridir. Çünkü bireyler günlük yaşamlarında radyo dinleme ya da televizyon izleme, gazete ya da kitap okuma, sosyal çevreleriyle sohbet etme, sosyal medya iletilerini okuma, alışveriş yapma vb. gibi eleştirel düşünme becerisini kullanmayı gerektiren faaliyette bulunmaktadır. Eleştirel düşünme becerisinin önemi dikkate alınarak bu araştırmada ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemi; basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen 190 erkek ve 219 kız olmak üzere toplam 409 ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Veriler, Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve Eleştirel Düşünme Becerisi Testi kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistik sonuçları, bağımsız gruplar için t-Testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde SPSS programından yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin orta düzeyde olduğu ve kız öğrenciler lehine anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin ebeveynlerinin öğrenim durumunun, eleştirel düşünme becerisi üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin bir aylık sürede okudukları kitap sayısının ve kütüphaneye üye olma durmlarının eleştirel düşünme becerisi üzerinde anlamlı düzeyde etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
The ability to deal with a matter from different aspects, being objective, to make reason, to decide the validity of arguments, to solve problems, to support claims with evidence, is one of the skills the people of our age need most. Because individuals in their daily lives listen to radio or watch television, read newspapers or books, chat with their social environments, read social media messages, shop, etc. It requires the ability to use critical thinking. Considering the importance of critical thinking skills, this study aims to study the critical thinking skills of primary school fourth grade students in terms of various variables. In the study, a visual scan model was used. The sample of the study consists of a total of 409 primary school fourth-class students, including 190 men and 219 girls, identified by the simple non-selective sample method. Data is collected using Personal Information Form and Critical Thinking Skills Test. Data analysis used visual statistical results, t-Test for independent groups and one-way variance analysis. The analysis is based on the SPSS program. The study found that the students’ critical thinking skills were at a medium level and that the girls showed significant differences in favor of the students. It has been determined that the educational status of the parents of students has no influence on their ability to think critically. The study found that the number of books students read in a month and the stops of being a library members have a significant impact on their ability to think critically.
