In 15th and 16th centuries, the art of painting is an significant stakeholder in Renaissance art which is rapidly accepted and spread in Europe, especially in Italy. Jan Van Eyck is one of the most important painters especially in Flemish painting in the Renaissance period. Jan Van Eyck created important artpieces by adding natural and architectural elements in Renaissance period to religious works that was created in Gothic period. Semiotics, which began to be discussed in the middle of the 16th century, is a discipline which is perceived as the teaching of analyzing the indicators and the comprehension ability of the human. In semiology, interpretation is important and includes all information and activities of the person who makes sense. In this study, Ronald Barthes' widely accepted semiotics method was used. The garments found in the three works of Jan Van Eyck were examined using the semiotic elements (indicative / denotation, displayed / connation and syntax-string) defined in the Barthes method. In the research, it is aimed to examine and analyze the indicators in Jan Van Eyck's paintings in terms of fashion history through semiotics. The messages transmitted in the works were evaluated using visual communication, especially in the context of clothing. In the study Jan Van Eyck's paintings that were drawn in the late gothic to early Renaissance period were examined using semiotics in terms of models and cut features of the pattern (fabric, mold, adornment) In the pictures, men, women, children, angel and animal figures, accessories in the interior, and in the interior; architectural details such as armchairs, beds, tables, carpets, flowers, arches, arched columns, stained glass, floor tiles were again examined using semiotics. When the paintings included in the study were examined; It is concluded that it reflects all the features of the periods.
