Abstract:

The aim of this research is to study the experience of high school math teachers in the teaching of math with the game. The study also assessed the place and impact of the cultural phenomenon in the teaching of games and mathematics, what the necessary conditions could be for a game to be useful. In the study, a phenomenological approach was used based on the quality research method. The sample selected for the study is high school math teachers and was carried out with a total of 24 participants selected by the purpose sample method. A semi-configured conversation form developed by researchers as a data collection tool has been used. In the interview form, the participants were asked questions that included their thoughts on the positive and negative aspects of the mathematical teaching. Content analysis is preferred for data analysis. The research has found that if the games available in mathematical education contain some characteristics, they can provide the desired acquisitions in mathematical education. The most important step of these qualities is to carry the measurement assessment criteria. In addition, the games should not lose their characteristics such as being fun, having a positive impact on motivation, encouraging learning together, minimizing individual differences. It is important that the games should be used intentionally but that the students are ignorant of this cast.
