Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the factors that have enabled Turkey-Chad relations to gain momentum in recent years. The study draws attention to the existence of two important sub-factors. One of these is the transformation in Turkey’s Africa policy. Turkey reshaped its African policy and began pursuing a comprehensive approach to the continent, where global competition is intense. Türkiye is trying to increase its influence by improving its relations in all countries on the continent. Within the framework of this policy, great importance is given to developing relations with Chad. Another sub-factor is Chad's desire to find permanent solutions to its political, economic, development and security-based problems. At this point, it has been determined that the main factor that brings these two countries together is the need for cooperation arising from the changes experienced by each country. It has been observed that the two countries have developed cooperation in different fields such as politics, economy, education, culture, security and industry, beyond the donor-recipient relationship model.
