Abstract:

Self Introduction: We aimed to show the differences in the clinical presentation and treatment of Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG), which is often seen in adults, in pediatric patients. Methods: October 2018–October 2020 we have reported the clinical, histopathological and therapeutic information of 8 PG patients who have applied to our hospital in a retrospective manner. The average age of patients was 2.2 years (min 15 days-max 9 years). The sex distribution was five girls, three men. In patients the injuries were more settled in the gluteal area (7/8) . All of the patients with Gluteal stages were Syrian refugees. Most patients (7/8) received complete healing in wound care with systemic steroid (1 mg/kg) and local 3% boric acid. Debate: In previous studies, it has been stated that the PG seen in children shows a changing anatomical area shrinking and is frequently seen along with inflammatory cervical disease. But in our case series ulcers are often in the gluteal, perianal and perineal areas, and no other related disease was found in these patients. The result: the majority of the patients (7/8) were from Syrian refugees, suggested that the disease may have demographic characteristics and that environmental and genetic factors may be important in the ethology. The clinical presence of PG in the pediatric age group shows different characteristics than the adult age group.
