Abstract:

This study consists of two main parts: analytical and experimental study. In the analytical study, strengthening a multi storey building with respect to principles of wrapping with CFRP according to Turkish Earthquake Code represented the axial load capacity of concrete may arise to be doubled. On the other hand, in experimental study, behavior of reinforced concrete sections strengthened by wrapping with CFRP subjected to cyclic loading is investigated. For this purpose, the core samples taken from a reinforced concrete building are loaded by axial force in the laboratory. Then the specimens wrapped with CFRP are subjected to several times the compressive loads. The results obtained in experimental study are evaluated. Accordingly, it is observed that reinforcing by wrapping with CFRP of damaged structural elements of reinforced concrete systems positively affects to resistance of them against cyclic loads.
