Abstract:

The Marmara Island, which is linked to the Fisheries Island, is located in the southwest of the Marmara Sea. The island is an important tourist center for the surrounding provinces with its geographical location, coastal and marine tourism features. Consumption of natural resources on the island of Marmara in recent years, the periodic growth of the population increases the pressure on the ground. The use of the land in accordance with the geomorphological characteristics of the land is important in terms of the conservation of the land and its sustainability. In this study, using the geographical information systems, the relationship between geomorphological units and land use in the Marmara Island was studied. Then the current use of the land was questioned in accordance with the geomorphological characteristics of the land. The examination area consists of mountain fields, mountain fields, plates and alivial ovals in terms of geomorphological units. Approximately 80% of the mountainous and mountainous areas, which make up 95% of the island of Marmara, are forests, trees and mines. Alveal ovals are mostly used as agricultural areas. In the field of review, the use of land is generally shaped according to morphological units, but there are also areas where the land is misused. Therefore, it is necessary to make plans to make the land use best suitable by identifying the problems of land use on the island of Marmara.
