Abstract:

The concept of debt, which is backed up to the birth of the economy, has become an important source of financing for the states today, especially when it has reached the peak of the globalization movements. As many developing countries, Turkey has often applied to borrowing in closing its income and expenditure imbalances. The crisis of the 2000s and the recent covid-19 pandemic has also been seriously deteriorating in the debt indicators, as well as in many economic indicators, as well as in the global impact of the recent covid-19 pandemic. From this point of view, the internal or external debt needs to be analyzed in detail in order to continue the existing sustainable debt policy of Turkey. When doing this analysis, it is necessary to deal with many indicators such as the amount of debt, not only the amount of debt, the national income ratio of debt, the debt conversion rates, the debt period, the debt cost, who holds and who uses the debt assets, the payment projections, the debt currency composition. In this direction, the study discussed the internal and external debt components of Turkey after 2000 with all aspects. The study found that the stability provided in certain periods in both internal and external debt indicators after 2000 has begun to deteriorate especially after the crises that occur and during the Covid-19 pandemic process.
