Abstract:

Today, the management of the free time left out of the needs of life is considered very important for the improvement of the quality of life and the discharge of individuals. The concept of recreation, which can be defined as the assessment of free time, holds an important place for this understanding. The research was aimed at revealing the metaphoric perceptions of the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences towards the concept of recreation. The study group consists of 90 students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences who continue their studies at different universities in Turkey. The data is like “recreation ... because...” The word is collected digitally with the Google form. In the analysis and interpretation of data, the content analysis method has been used. In this study, the data was analyzed under the titles of coding and extract, validity and reliability, data interpretation, taking into account the content analysis stages. As a result of the grouping created according to the common and similar characteristics of 74 metaphors produced by the Faculty of Sports Sciences for the recreation concept, metaphors were gathered in 5 different categories under the name of "Positive Nature Reflections", "Multidisciplinary Approach", "Sensitivity", "Necessity" and "Physicality". It is found that among the metaphors that students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences produce the most used are Water, Love, Sun, Oxygen and Breath.
