Osmanlı döneminde Ağrıboz/Eğriboz, günümüz de ise Chalkis adı ile anılan şehri koruyan kale Fatih Sultan Mehmet tarafından 1470 yılında Venediklilerden alınmıştır. Kale zamanla Osmanlı devletinin Akdeniz´deki en önemli merkezlerinden biri olmuştur. Konumu ve önemi kalenin sürekli olarak bakımını zorunlu kılmıştır. Fethinden Osmanlı Devleti´nin elinden çıkıncaya kadar birçok kez tamirat gören kalenin en maliyetli tamiratı ise Venedik muhasarası sonrasıdır. Kaleyi muhasara dışında yaşanılan depremler de etkilemiştir. Tamiratlar sadece kale tahkimatı ile ilgili değil aynı zamanda suyolları ve kemerleri, cami, çeşme, bina gibi yapıları da içermiştir. Tamiratların kapsamı ve yapılanlar kalenin, bir Osmanlı yapısına dönüşmesine zemin hazırlamıştır. XIX. yüzyılın sonuna doğru yıktırılan kale, Osmanlı ve dünya kültür mirası açısından önemli bir kayıp olmuştur. Bu minvalde, Ağrıboz kalesinin Venedik muhasarası sonrasından 1715 yılına kadar olan tamiratları arşiv belgeleri ışığında incelenmiştir. Yapılan bu çalışma ile, Osmanlı Devleti´nin, sınırları dahilinde tamir veya yeniden inşa çalışmalarına verdiği önemi ortaya koymak ve bunların ne şekilde uyguladığını tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır.
During the Ottoman period, the town was taken from the Venetians by Fatih Sultan Mehmet, who preserved the city named Chalkis in 1470. The castle has been one of the most important centers of the Ottoman state in the Mediterranean. Its location and importance has made the permanent maintenance of the castle compulsory. The most expensive repair of the castle, which has been renovated many times from the conquest to the outbreak of the Ottoman State, is after the Venetian accountant. The castle was also affected by the earthquakes that occurred outside the countryside. The repairs are not only related to the castle shelter but also include waterways and belt, mosques, fountains, buildings. The scope of the repairs and buildings prepared the ground to transform the castle into an Ottoman structure. The XIX. The castle, destroyed by the end of the century, has been a significant loss in terms of the Ottoman and world cultural heritage. In this minval, the repairs of the Pairboz Castle from the Venetian accounting to 1715 were studied in the light of archive documents. With this study, it is intended to reveal the importance of the Ottoman State to its repair or rebuilding work within its borders and to determine how they are implemented.
