Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to determine the validity of the "Health Literacy Scale" scale by adapting to Turkish in order to ensure the evaluation of functional, interactive and critical health literacy of adult patients with type 2 diabetes. Method: Health Literacy - The methodological study to determine the validity and reliability of the Health Literacy Scale, was conducted with 140 patients monitored with a type 2 diabetes diagnosis for a few years. Language validity, scope validity and reliability analyses have been carried out for the scale consisting of three subdimensions. Results: The cronbach alpha value for the overall score of the scale is calculated as 0.96, 0.96 for the functional health literature sub-dimensions, 0.91 for interactive health literature and 0.96 for critical health literature. Factor analysis for all sizes has been verified, and some items are represented in different sub sizes in the Turkish version. The health literature scale is a valid and reliable tool in measuring the level and size of health literature in adult patients with diabetes.
