Abstract:

With the effects of globalisation, various changes are taking place almost everywhere in the world. Although this change provides various benefits that can be described as development in many areas, it causes deformation in the cultural field. Globalisation, which envisages the world to be treated as a small village, also affects the folk culture, which is naturally formed in various parts of the globe in a wide variety of ways. Folk culture is constantly changing like a living organism. Based on this feature, although it is suggested that it is natural for folk culture to metamorphose through different periods and that this period will create its own folk culture products, it has been argued in the research that an unnatural process is experienced due to the speed of today's technological possibilities. In this context, it is necessary both to protect the existing originality of folk culture and to ensure that each community does not lose its original aspects that are not similar to each other in educational processes. Undoubtedly, educational institutions are of great importance to ensure this protection. In order to prevent these cultural losses, it was evaluated that it would be useful to reconsider the education and training processes by realising folk culture teaching in formal and informal ways. In the research, the studies previously written in the literature were reviewed and the study was revealed by document analysis from qualitative research methods. As a result of these analyses, studies on the effects of globalisation were also examined and the possible effects of the positive and negative effects of globalisation on folk culture were tried to be criticised.
