Abstract:

The subject of this study, Omer, is one of the poets who do not know about the poet's theses, which are the basic works of our literary history, and other classical sources containing biographical information. The poet’s only work known for today is the mesnevius that carries the name Bahtiyar-nâme. The only written piece of the work is registered in the Istanbul Archaeological Museum Library number 1022 . The work is also valuable in terms of the information that illuminates the historical and literary personality of the author of Omer. He is presenting himself and his family in the original part of his work. In the other sections of the mesnevine there is also information that can be assessed under the title of the poet's historical personality. However, this information is not so detailed that it can literally illuminate the poet’s historical personality. In this study, the basic information about biography, followed by the poet's texts and other classical sources containing biographical information, provided information about the poets registered under the name of Omer. After that, the historic character of Omer was achieved from his work with the examples of Beethoven. In the study, the poet’s understanding of the art was also placed under a special title. With this work on the historical and literary personality of Omer, it is intended to introduce it to our literary history.
