Ulusal kalkınmanın alt basamakları bölgesel ve yerel kalkınmadır. Küreselleşmenin de etkisiyle ülkelerde merkezden yerele değil, yerelden merkeze kalkınma anlayışı hakimdir. Sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın başarılı olabilmesi için sürdürülebilir yerel kalkınma önem arz etmektedir. Sürdürülebilir yerel kalkınma; insan, çevre, doğal kaynaklar, gelir artışı gibi faktörlerin sürdürülebilir kullanımı ile insanların sürdürülebilir bir yaşama sahip olabilmesi için yaşam standardının yükseltilmesi anlamına gelmektedir. Bu bağlamda yerelde şehirler önem taşımaktadır. Şehirlerdeki nüfus yoğunluğuna ve kentleşmeye bağlı altyapı, ulaşım, sağlık, eğitim ve barınma gibi temel hizmetlerde sorunlar gündemdedir. Geleneksel şehir çözümlerinin yeterli olmadığı bilinen bir gerçektir. Bu durumda bilgi ve iletişim teknolojisine dayalı; çevreci, uzun vadeli ve etkin olan akıllı şehirler artık bir ihtiyaç değil zorunluluktur. Hayatı kolaylaştıran, doğayı koruyan, ekonomik, teknolojik ve sosyal bir yaşam sunan akıllı şehirler yaşam standartlarını artırmaktadır. Nitel yöntemle oluşturulan bu çalışmada amacımız, sürdürülebililirliğin önemli bir göstergesi haline gelen kentler ve bu kentlerde yaşayan ekonomik birimlerin en önemlisi olan hanehalklarının sürdürülebilir bir hayat için akıllı şehirlere duyduğu ihtiyacı gündeme getirmektir.
The bottom stages of national development are regional and local development. The influence of globalization also dominates the concept of development in countries not from center to local, but from local to center. Sustainable local development is important for sustainable development to be successful. Sustainable local development means the sustainable use of factors such as people, the environment, natural resources, the increase in revenues and the rise of the standard of life for people to have a sustainable life. In this context, the cities are very important. Problems in basic services such as infrastructure, transport, healthcare, education and accommodation related to the population intensity and urbanization in cities are on the agenda. It is a known fact that traditional city solutions are not enough. In this case, based on information and communication technologies, smart cities that are environmental, long-term and effective are no longer a need. Smart cities that make life easier, preserve nature, provide economic, technological and social life enhance the living standards. Our aim in this study is to present the need for smart cities for a sustainable life in the cities that have become an important indicator of sustainability and the most important economic units living in these cities.
